Just got fired. But it's okay. It's kinda strange that I'm in a perfect mood. Well, I've been planning to retire for some time anyway.

My Top 3 Books You Don't Want To Read.
1)John Moore, "Slay & Rescue." Frankly speaking, that's the one and only book I threw down the rubbish chute. Disgusting. 2)Guy Gavriel Kay, "The Fionavar Tapestry." 3)Bernard Werber, "The Empire of Angels." I believe that anyone who claims to know what's going on will lie about the little things too (c)Neil Gaiman And he lies, oh yes he does. Twists the facts For-The-Great-Justice.
And what books wouldn't you recommend to your worst enemy?

I've finished the 3rd course. Holidays at last! Well, the actual vacation hasn't started yet, but at the moment I'm not torn between work and study, and this wonderful state will last till October. Zlata and I drank Mochito to celebrate it. Zlata is my only friend in the institute. Usually I make friends easily, but it seems that our group consists of girls I don't even want to talk to. They feel pretty the same towards me. Most of them are grown-up women (in the worst meaning of it), with children and stuff, boring as hell. I don't mean to say every woman with a child is boring, I have enough friends of that kind and I love children, honest. The point is that they don't even like the speciality. They need the language for work purposes and a diploma. This summer I'm doing no LARPing. I'm still keen on it, but want to rest in a way that doesn't require resting from the rest. Dances and travelling. I have very little money and a half of my vacation will go at my own expense (It came out of the blue on Friday and disappointed me a lot), but can afford a trip to St. Petersburg and a flight to Kaliningrad, which we planned with my darling. As regards St. Petersburg, we go there with Seamus - he's going to meet his friends, and I'm heading to some military base in the suburbs, where Alary, an old friend of mine, will be taking the oath on 11th July. Hope he'll be able of playing his whistles and bagpipes during his service. He's the kind of man who lives by music only. Not fitted for the army, if you ask me. *sigh*

The musical "Hair" Stas and I watched yesterday was awesome, and I especially enjoyed the final part when they pulled the audience onto the stage. I looked at Stas, he gave me an approving nod, and I jumped over the first row and started dancing. It's the first time I dance on the stage. Very exciting. Y'know, like in this scene from "Charlie's angels", where Cameron Diaz dances in the club. I couldn't settle myself down for 2 hours or so. And when we were sitting in some eatery later that evening, a girl at a table near us pointed at me and said, "I saw her on the stage!" =)
Found a video of the musical. The song "Hair" ("Волосы").
The same song in the original film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dyl0j3WU6Y

I've come up with an idea for a salad. It must be named "Surprise, Caesar!" Haven't thought about the ingredients yet. Should be somewhat poisoning.

Yesterday I'd finally got rid of my yearly project. Got an excellent mark - not much of a reward for numerous restless nights, but still a bit satisfying. The subject of the project was "culture-specific vocabulary and its translation". During my research I ran across a quote by Terry Pratchett that made me giggle. "Mind you, the Elizabethans had so many words for the female genitals that it is quite hard to speak a sentence of modern English without inadvertently mentioning at least three of them." (c)Pratchett. I love linguistics. But oh, I feel like I know so little about it. =/ The more I learn the less I feel I know, you see...
BTW, for the first time in my life visited the State Duma. My boss hosted debates on the tax system. And I helped him to organize it all. I was nervous and edgy as hell, because it was all too much for me, too serious, I've never been much into politics, for god's sake, and was all like "hey, what's going on?". And of course I was feeling like a blasted zombie because I was writing the blasted project at nights. And I nearly fucked everything up, but thanks to all known gods it was settled somehow and went not very bad, after all.

I'm sorry I haven't been writing for so long, really-really, but you see, I had no time. How are you, people? Is everything okay? =)
P.S. Ah, and I got bangs. =) Very brave of me indeed.

It's been a month since I last wrote. So you don't know about my shiny new job, and me dancing tango, and me thinking of setting up a band, and 3 examination repeatings, and... lots of stuff.
As you remember, I was in search of a corrector/editor vacancy. And I saw one on the popular job hunting site. The company's profile is any kind of service for insurance companies. Professional magazines, audit, education. And first when I came to this company, I came to get a junior editor job. It took me two hours to fill in all questionnaires (They even had questions like "What hobbies do you share with your family members"). The job interview with the chief executive Diana had been lasting for an hour, when she asked me if I really wanted to get this job. "Editors," - she said, - "sit in a small room staring to their computers, cold and voiceless, each one on the tip of his own iceberg." Sometimes they don't talk to each other all day - only when they're on the dinner break. And nobody makes a compliment to you, never. Well yes, I'm not a kind of a person that can keep silence all day long. And I need to be encouraged regularly. I said I was not sure about this but I really wanted to work in this place. Because I felt much respect to this woman, and I liked the atmosphere - businesslike and serious, but at the same time friendly and... kinda cosy. You can see this in small companies, where a little bunch of people achieve success in doing a lot of things fast and effective. Everything is well-organized and everybody likes his job. Truly amazing and very rare. And so she smiled and said she'd think of another proposal to make. Few days later she called and offered me to work as a telemarketing specialist. I swear I didn't have a clue what a telemarketing specialist is... but I said yes eagerly. Then I have another interview with my future boss Natalia (she seemed wonderful to me, too), and it becomes clear to me that it is all about sales and telephone calls. And the bad thing is that I feel very uncomfortable when I call people that I don't know. "Very uncomfortable" = it creeps the hell out of me. But anyway, I'm a brave little rabbit, I've already said yes and I'm not going to surrender. When I started working... I was all like "AAAAA please I'm not here", but time passes, and so far, everything goes just better and better. I love my boss and my co-workers (one of them is a skydiver; our directors, Diana and Max, are kayak paddlers; lots of nice interesting people around me!). This friday evening Diana told me that one of the reasons to employ me was that I was not afraid of finding my own way. It almost made me cry.

I feel melancholic. It must be weather. It's marvellous, but a bit depressing too. The other reason is my job hunting, which didn't come to any success yet, though it've been lasting for a whole month or so. I'm trying to find something more close to my future profession than corrector. But it appears to be that I have to consider alternatives, which I'm trying to do at the present moment. I usually avoid vacanсies related to communication, but this time I'll give it a try. I can do it, can't I?.. BTW, the financial crisis has touched some people of my closest circle. Last Thursday I had to hug and console Gil. He was crying and repeating lamentably: "I am nothing." Poor guy was dismissed on grounds of redundancy. I wish I could be able to help. =( Fortunately, Seamus has found better job than he had. He's a corrector again, but the wage is twice as big as it was (not very big, though, but the previous was simply laughable). Today is his first day in the newspaper. So we're not giving up, after all.
Started to read "Fables" comics. My drugdealer Seamus was right, Vertigo studio is something special. So far, I'm in love with Bigby Wolf. Before you ask - no, I don't have the "Little Red Riding Hood" complex. I don't.
Oh, and have a look at this! It's the kitchen of my dream. Steampunk kitchen furniture set!.

Meme from keieeeye * Post three things you've done that you believe no one else reading has done. * If anyone responds with "I've done that", add another thing. * Encourage your friends to paste this into their own journal to list the unique things they've done.
- I spent a night in the forest sleeping wrapped in a piece of polyethylene while it was showering very hard. - I standed in a baptismal fount for 10 seconds or something like that. Crossed myself thrice. It was cold as death, and I jumped out like a young goat. - I danced waltz at an underground station. - I once won a lottery. Though I only won the cost of the lottery ticket. =)

Hey, look what I've found!
http://www.ancientfm.com/ "Ancient FM present live online streaming radio featuring music of the medieval and renaissance periods".
Enjoy. I can even recognize "Gathering peascods" or "Return of the spring" or another countrydance, bransle and allemande stuff.
Do you know what is the simpliest dance ever? Bransle Simple. Two steps to the left, two steps to the right, then repeat. God, isn't it amazing that it has a name?..

Experimenting with spices... Boiling pelmeni, generously poured black pepper and ginger into the pan. Nothing was more awakening in my life than that. It seems that some ginger + hot water is more effective than coffee, but less tasty. To be honest, I hate it. Here is another recipe of an energy drink: make a cup of black tea and add one teaspoon of coffee. Tested expedient. Do you have your own recipes?

Good news, everyone! I'm back and have lots of time to read my flist. Bad news is that I've lost my job. I'm a Fabulous Fool, naturally.
Lots of things had happen while I was away. Let's start with AG. "Aeria Gloris", the LARP game that I had been waiting for so long, is over at last. The number of players was 3 times less than we planned, so the game's budget is catastrophically minus. The location I organized had 6 players (Henrietta Maria of France, Charles II of England (in the played period - the prince of Wales), Edward Hyde, the Duke of Buckingham, prince's chaplain and a servant girl. Other Englishmen I was to coordinate: Mordaunt (from "Twenty years after" by Dumas), one doctor and 4 men from the city watch, that were killed in the first game night. Photos now!
My restless, but satisfied face. And my new haircut. =)

( Henrietta Maria: living in exile )
( Henrietta Maria )
( Merry chaplain )
( Charles among ladies of Savoy )
( Duke of Buckingham )
( A la guerre comme a la guerre )

I has just changed the title of my blog (the previous was "A cosy hole of The Man-Eating Mole"). I was rereading a short story by Ursula Le Guin, that's why I did it.
Now the title is "Walking away from Omelas", and the subtitle is still "How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb". They go well together, don't they.
The story itself is here. If you haven't read it yet, do it, I swear it won't take much time. There was a period in my life, when I was considering the subject of utopias and distopias and of their cost. This story made me think. And I'm still thinking. I keep claiming that this given utopia deserves nothing but a big badaboom. But, well, I don't know. Does it really makes no sense to fight? Where do they go? Where do I go?
